A Hydram pumps Dunsley Spring water to Middleton Open Service Reservoir. There are other springs feeding this reservoir - location unknown. The water in the reservoir was chlorinated only in warm weather. Wirksworth UDC had said for many years that the open reservoir was not suitable and needed to have a covered reservoir. This was not achieved until the South Derbyshire water Board took over as the Water Undertaking.
