Dk and Joe Woodward at Bog Lane, Melbourne Derbyshire. The air compressor is on the right of the photo. Joe if he was worried the engine might fail during the night, would sleep next to it and wake if it missed a beat. This was all getting too much, so help from his son Cess Woodward was needed. Cess and his father worked for Shardlow Rural District Council Water Department which was absorbed in 1959 by South East Derbyshire RDC and then in 1961 The South Derbyshire Water Board. Cess went on to work for Severn Trent Water Authoriry retiring in 1977.
